Amalgam Replacement Silver amalgam fillings are unattractive and can place teeth at risk of fracturing. Our dentists are experienced in the replacement of amalgam fillings with dental porcelains and resins which restore back teeth to their original appearance and strength. These restorations are biocompatible and also much more conservative than their predecessors, enabling preservation of healthy tooth structure. Our patients report that having their amalgams replaced helps them to smile and laugh with the confidence of knowing that their back teeth are white instead of silver!
We always recommend the most conservative treatment option. If the pre-existing restoration is smaller we prefer to use composite resin direct fillings, however for larger restorations we utilise porcelain inlays for greater durability and enhanced reinforcement of the remaining tooth structure.
Crowns and Veneers Many of our new patients have had veneers placed on their teeth previously by other dentists, and are unhappy with their appearance. Frequent complaints from these patients are that their current veneers look bulky and 'fake', or are an inappropriate shape. Our primary aim is to provide our patients with beautiful and natural looking smiles. It requires training, expertise, and an artistic eye to ensure that all of our veneers and crowns look like real teeth. We also ensure every patient's complete satisfaction with their aesthetic result by allowing for their input into the design, shape and colour of their new teeth.
If possible we will offer the choice between 2 veneer types: composite resin veneers & porcelain veneers. Composite resin veneers are a totally reversible procedure requiring little if any tooth preparation. Tooth coloured restorative material is bonded to the tooth in various shades & is shaped to achieve the desired result.
Porcelain veneers are used where the underlying tooth position precludes the use of composite resin. It is a more durable alternative and the results delight our patients.
Missing Teeth Missing teeth can be replaced with dentures, bridges, or implant-retained crowns. Most of our patients prefer to avoid dentures, and have their teeth replaced with bridges or implant-retained crowns, as, unlike dentures, both of these restorations are fixed permanently in the mouth. Implants are now very commonly used with placement being done in our office. Guided implant placement allows us to use computer bone scans to precisely position the implants and means that the procedure can be completed in 90 minutes and the teeth placed in as little as 24 hours (subject to case suitability) Bridges and implant-retained crowns are sometimes placed in conjunction with other veneers and crowns in order to achieve a perfect aesthetic result, as in the cases shown. We will discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of these treatment alternatives to help you to select the option which best suits your needs.

Poor Alignment Crowded and crooked teeth not only look unattractive, they can also be difficult to clean. Ineffective cleaning can, in turn, lead to gum problems and decay. If the teeth themselves have colour or are not well shaped or are damaged, porcelain veneers and crowns can in many circumstances be used as an alternative to orthodontics to correct crowded teeth, crooked teeth, and those which have otherwise poor alignment. The teeth can therefore be cosmetically enhanced in a much shorter time frame than if braces were used. If the shape of the teeth is not an issue, teeth can be straightened in many cases without using braces. Invisalign is a technique which allows one to achieve a beautiful smile without the inconvenience and less discomfort than is associated with braces. As with all the techniques we offer, it is best to have a cosmetic consultation to discuss what result you would like to achieve & to discover which options are suitable to your individual needs.

Smile 'Makeovers' There are many causes for tooth discolouration. Brightening the colour of your teeth can make dramatic improvements in your smile, often in a relatively short time and with minimal expense.
If you are a coffee or red wine drinker, the solution can be regular polishing visits with one of our dental hygienists. A cosmetic consultation will help us to find out the cause of the discolouration and provide appropriate treatment options.
