Many stress headaches are the result of jaw joint or jaw muscle disfunction. These are worsened by stress which increases the tendency to grind or clench one’s teeth.
The teeth becoming prematurely worn and will cause them to break especially if they are already previously filled. Our dentists have been trained to recognise these problems in their early stages and will work with our patients to endeavour to minimize any future issue.
A lot of these problems are caused by a disharmony between the muscles and the jaw joint and the position of the teeth or the way they meet. Neuromuscular dentistry is the science or diagnosing the cause of the disharmony and re-establishing the harmony with the use of night splints or orthotics. Severe wear may mean that the correct tooth height may need to be re-established using crowns & veneers. The end result is a better functioning bite, and a comfortable jaw joint-jaw muscle system
