Emergency dental for children and teens

If your child needs emergency dental help, call us on (03) 9650 6622.

By informing us about the incident, we can recommend the best course of action and, if needed, we will see your child as a priority emergency.

If your child needs urgent dental care, we can help

When a dental emergency occurs it’s important to act as quickly as possible to avoid further damage. When it comes to your children, sudden dental damage can be stressful enough, so we’ve made the process easy.

We allocate a number of emergency appointments each day to prioritise this type of care. We know that with all the rough and tumble play, accidents happen, and our dentists have the knowledge and experience to correctly manage dental impact in a way that provides the best possible outcome for your child’s dental future.

We’re conveniently located in the CBD, so wherever you are, you can count on our professionals to tend to your child or teen’s emergency needs.

Contact us during our operating hours in the event of an emergency. One of our dentists is always available after hours for patients who have a record with us.

What to do in a dental emergency

Before you arrive at our clinic, here are some tips to relieve the trauma of certain dental emergencies.

Remove any left over food in the mouth with water, use over-the-counter pain medication. If this doesn’t help, seek dental assistance as soon as possible.

Knocked-out tooth

Try to remain as calm as possible, and only handle the tooth from its crown – never its roots. If your child has lost an adult tooth, try to locate the tooth and rinse it in milk if it’s dirty. Replant the tooth back into its socket and and secure it in place with your fingers. Seek dental care immediately. For more information, you can visit the Colgate website.

Chips and fractures

Seek immediate dental attention and remain calm. If a tooth seems pink, a nerve could be exposed and delaying treatment may result in an eventual infection.
If you are unsure about whether or not your child requires urgent assistance, do not hesitate to call our clinic and enquire. Our dentists are prepared to promptly advise you on your next steps.
